2023 NHSA Annual Awards

The 2023 New Hampshire Snowmobile Association Annual Awards recognizes the club volunteers and supporters who manage, maintain and assist the snowmobile clubs and trails throughout the state.

NH Snowmobiler of the Year: John Berry
2023 NH Snowmobiler of the Year: John Berry
Terry Callum, Sullivan County Director, introduces John Berry, of the Blow-Me-Down Snow Riders, as Snowmobiler of the Year. John’s been an active volunteer since the 1980’s, both in his club and at NHSA events. Serving as club trail administrator for 20-plus years, he makes it a point to personally thank each landowner.
2023 NH Junior Snowmobiler of the Year:
Cheyenne Cloutier
Recognized as the official Colebrook Ski Bees club trails administrator assistant, Cheyenne Cloutier has been involved in the snowmobiling sport since learning how to walk. Cheyenne is known for her fresh ideas, and unwavering work ethic.
2023 NH Snowmobile Family of the Year: The McNeilly Family
Jay McNeilly is congratulated by Russ Neal, Strafford County Director, as he accepts the award on behalf of his wife, Susan McNeilly, and their four daughters Lisa, Hailey, Lilly, and Jaylynne. They are active members of the Evergreen Valley Snowmobile Club.
2023 NH Snowmobile Business of the Year:
The Refinery
AJ Giglio of The Refinery was selected as Business of the Year. This restaurant regularly hosts county meetings, supports local club’s fundraisers, and consistently provides food and catering for local snowmobile events.
2023 NH Snowmobile Club of the Year:
Asquamchumauke Valley Snowmobile Club
Evelyn Ferrell, Grafton County Director, presents the award to Dorothy Gove and Robert Defosses of the Asquamchumauke Valley Snowmobile Club, recognizing how the club has significantly grown and become active over the past six years.
2023 NH Groomer of the Year: Stephen Gooden
Steve Gooden, of the Baker River Valley Snowmobile Club, stood out as the ultimate team player who delivered consistent dedication to the club’s trails. He provided more than one third of our grooming hours for the season and earned the nicknamed Yeti.
2023 NH Trail Worker of the Year: Jack Toomey
Jack Toomey of the Central New Hampshire Snowmobile Club is highly respected for all his efforts. He drives long distances and spends longer days volunteering his time for trail work. Jack, who was presented the inaugural Trails Worker Award, also heads out with the groomers to help with clean-up.
2023 Catherine Dickson Award: Dennis Ford
Dennis Ford, of the Alexandria Ledge Climbers, was recognized for his years of volunteerism with the prestigious Catherine Dickson Lifetime Achievement Award. Dennis is a past president of NHSA and has served the Association and his club at many levels for decades.
2023 Lyle “Fib” McBurney Award: Ev Ferrell
Tom Willand, NHSA President, had the pleasure to announce Evelyn Ferrell as the 2023 “Fib” McBurney Award recipient. This honor is chosen from among the NHSA Board, by peers, based on the devotion to organized snowmobiling in New Hampshire.
2023 NHSA Presidential Service Award: Steve Kiander
NHSA President, Tom Willand, honors Steve Kiander for his service as NHSA Treasurer. Steve was instrumental in reconfiguring the Association’s budget process and later worked diligently to help offset financial challenges through epidemic shutdowns.
2023 NHSA Award of Excellence: Janis Riley
The NHSA Board of Directors honored outgoing administrative assistant Janis Riley with a beautiful desk clock for her years of loyal service, dedication, and volunteerism to the Association.
2023 Ray Burton Award: Lyme Pinnacle Snowmobile Club
Ray Burton Award: Russ Neal, Strafford County Director, congratulates Ken Milkie of the Lyme Pinnacle Snowmobile Club upon announcing they are the recipient of the Ray Burton Memorial Trail Project award. The club will rebuild two bridges with the grant.
NH Fish and Game OHRV Safety Education Instructors Award:
Francene Frame
Francene Frame of the Baker River Valley Club, accepts the NH Fish and Game OHRV Safety Education Instructors Award from Captain Michael Eastman.
