NH Grass Drags Unveils Astonishing Overhaul at Iconic Racetrack

October 2, 2024 by Brian Labrie

Estimated $135,000 enhancements as NH Grass Drags unveils astonishing overhaul at iconic racetrack. Goal to build most desirable track on grass drags circuit.

After the 2023 snowmobile grass drags season, it became evident that the NH Grass Drags racetrack needed to enhance the overall quality of the experience for racers and fans alike. To that end, the NH Grass Drags unveils astonishing overhaul at iconic racetrack for 2024.

Volunteers and Generous Donors Support Track Effort

Since early July, our dedicated track team has been working tirelessly, making weekly improvements to the track area. Despite a tight budget, our generous donors and committed volunteers have been more than willing to support these efforts.

Estimated $135,000 enhancements as NH Grass Drags unveils astonishing overhaul at iconic racetrack. Record breaking speeds expected.

Understanding the importance of expert guidance, the track team enlisted the help of two seasoned track-to-racer liaisons. John Decato and Dennis Kopacz provided their insights and vision for this major project. Although the upgrades will be ongoing over the next few years, a significant portion of the work has already been accomplished.

For those familiar with the snowmobile racing scene, several noticeable improvements will stand out immediately. The old clay track surface has been replaced with 275 yards of fresh blue clay, sourced directly from the very farm where the event takes place.

Grass drag track shutdown area has been smoothed out by volunteers.

The backstop has been expanded and now features viewing windows, allowing teams to monitor the snowmobile action while behind the wall. Additionally, the shutdown area has been smoothed out, rocks removed, and the surface hydroseeded.

We are also installing an irrigation system, complete with a new water pump system.

New PortaTree racer timing technology has been purchased, a better scale location has been established. The spectator bleachers have been relocated to the watercross and RaveX area.

These updates provided grass drag racers with much needed parking, camping, pit space and viewing opportunities.

Significant Goal Orientated Investments

These enhancements, while exciting, have come at a considerable cost. If we were to put a retail number on this so far, we’d be well over $135,000. Said one organizer “Our donors and volunteers have truly saved the day with their generous contributions.”

The race community voiced its concerns, and the NHSA responded. Our goal is to make this the most desirable racetrack on the grass drags circuit.

Next time you see a volunteer on the track, please take a moment to thank them. They have sacrificed their summer and fall weekends to improve the event and ensure that ultimately clubs have a venue to generate revenue to maintain the snowmobile trails we all enjoy.

To our incredible volunteer corps: Thank you for your unwavering dedication and hard work in support of the association and member clubs! Your efforts are much appreciated!
