North Carolina Hurricane Victims Request Help From NH Snowmobilers

North Carolina Hurricane Victims Request Help From NH Snowmobilers

The New Hampshire Snowmobile Association received a plea for assistance from a relief volunteer helping residents of Western North Carolina displaced by flooding and landslides caused by Hurricane Helene. The situation is dire, with thousands living in tents and without power in areas such as Burnsville and Beech Mountain, at elevations ranging from 2,750 to 5,500 feet.

With extreme winter conditions expected (lows of -2°F to highs of 6°F) in January through March, relief organizations urgently need winter-rated (zero-degree) sleeping bags. Due to their high cost, the volunteer suggests snowmobile suits as a practical alternative.

The snowmobiling community is being asked to contribute adult and children sizes:
• Used snowmobile suits (jackets and bibs)
• Cold-weather gloves
• Warm boots
• Hats
• Zero-degree-rated sleeping bags

Mark the outside of each box with the contents and sizes (ex: used snowmobile jacket and bibs Large, Used snowmobile boots XL)
