What is the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association?
Founded in 1969, the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association (NHSA) is an association of independently incorporated snowmobile clubs, working together as a unified voice to speak for the sport of snowmobiling and to promote it as a safe family recreation. The NHSA is made up of all segments of the snowmobiling community including clubs, club members, distributors, dealers, and contributors.
The Purpose of NHSA
- To promote and foster snowmobiling as a sport and recreation for its members.
- To aid and guide in the enacting of sensible legislation governing snow traveling vehicles and related activities.
- To exchange within the association ideas, trail information, group activities and information pertinent to the welfare of snowmobiling.
- To create and maintain, mark and map, a system of public and private trails for the use of snowmobiles.
- To promote good conduct, sportsmanship, safety and conservation practices.
- To educate snowmobilers in conjunction with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department regarding safety, first aid, correct operating techniques, and other information for safe riding.
How is the NHSA Governed?
The Board of Directors and Officers meet the third Tuesday of every month. The Board consists of Directors and Assistant Directors for each county, a Dealer Director and a Contributor Director.The President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer officiate each meeting. Also in attendance are representatives from the New Hampshire Fish and Game and Bureau of Trails and other special guests. The typical agenda is to discuss and decide on activities pertaining to, but not limited to:
- Trails networks throughout the state.
- Forest and environmental activities and concerns.
- Legislative activities throughout the state and New England affecting snowmobiling.
- Annual Ride-In for Easter Seals.
- NHSA sponsored activities.
- Legal matters affecting clubs or the overall snowmobile situation.
- County activities each month.
- Sno-Traveler input and other publications.
- The International snowmobiling situation.

- Works with the Department of Resources and Economic Development (DRED) and the Bureau of Trails (BOT) to establish trail networks throughout the state.
- Works with state agencies and associations to coordinate snowmobile activities throughout New England.
- Associates with national and international groups to discuss and act upon laws and operations internationally.
- Associates with organizations such as the White Mountain National Forest and other environmental groups to help develop and maintain the network of state trails.
- Provides a newspaper (Sno-Traveler) to all members from September to April
- Provides a sounding board for you on snowmobile matters of interest.
