Turnkey Fundraising Opportunity for NH Snowmobile Clubs

September 6, 2023 by NHSA

Turnkey Fundraising Opportunity for NH Snowmobile Clubs is fun!

Money. The clubs need it. Where does it come from? A portion comes from memberships and donations. Grant-In-Aid partially assists. What about fundraising? Did you know that there is a turnkey fundraising opportunity for NH snowmobile clubs? Do you wonder how much could your club make? Read on…

Volunteers Make NH Grass Drags a Success Story

From the grounds crew to committee members, everyone who makes the grass drags a success is a volunteer. One of the largest events of its kind, it takes a small army to pull it off. That army is made up of volunteers. It’s an opportunity to experience one of the most exciting snowmobile events in the world, in exchange for volunteer hours that puts significant cash in your club’s bank account.

Turnkey Fundraising Opportunity for NH Snowmobile Clubs

A lot of clubs have been volunteering at the grass drags for years, saying it plays an important role in their fundraising efforts, adding there is little to no financial risk involved at the club level. There are three phases to the volunteer program: 1) pre-event set-up, 2) the event itself, 3) post-event breakdown.

A typical participating club has 3-20 volunteers. That sure adds up to a nice check, but there’s even more. Clubs share in the bonus program when the event does well. They report the money made is vital to their general operating fund, especially for those unexpected expenses that seem to pop-up when we least expect them.

Results From Volunteer Poll

A recent poll of participating clubs found the average volunteer age was in the 40+ range, with many over 60. Some travel to the event to pitch-in while others take advantage of the work/camp opportunity the Club Volunteer Program, which offers a weekend campsite for working a specified amount of hours during the event.

The poll also told us that networking and comradery gained at the event was an unexpected bonus. Bonds made between individuals and clubs may never have happened were it not for the drags. Some even going so far as to say they have gained a new family. This is clear as you watch the volunteers mix work and play, side by side.

How Much Money Can Your Club Fundraise?

How much money your club can raise depends on the total volunteered hours. Of the 30+ clubs that participated last year, the average payout per club was $2,255.00, while the top 15 banked an average of $3,400.00. Digging deeper, the top ten clubs, those that really went the extra mile, took home an average of $4,580.00, some even more! As fundraisers go, it doesn’t get any easier.

Fast paced, challenging, fun, work, play – these are all words used by club volunteers to describe their experiences at the grass drags. Can we add you to the army this year? Sign up here or contact the volunteer coordinator team for more info.
