2019 Ski-Doo snowmobiles feature new engine and an updated version of the REV Gen 4 platform.
900 ACE Turbo
There’s been lots of speculation about the possibility of a turbo 4-stroke in the Ski-Doo line-up, and they finally deliver with the Rotax 900 ACE Turbo. BRP claims 150 horsepower with instantaneous response, virtually zero turbo lag, combined with the reliability and efficiency of other Rotax ACE 4-stroke engines.
This all-new 900 ACE Turbo replaces the outgoing 1200 4-TEC, delivering a 20 HP power increase over that mill. The 900 ACE Turbo, which underwent significant redesign of components, features a Rotax liquid cooled turbo, designed specifically for that engine. The 900 turbo weighs about the same as the outgoing 1200 but delivers more power and approximately 21+ MPG.
REV GEN4: Wide and Narrow
Everyone knows that the 900 4-stroke doesn’t fit in the Gen 4 chassis. Ski-Doo fixed that by introducing a new wide-body version of the Gen 4, with slightly wider body panels (about 2 inches overall) offering better wind protection. Otherwise, everything is pretty much the same as the narrow configuration.
That said, the MX-Z line is only available in the narrow body, thus no 900 ACE Turbo for the leaping yellow sled. But you can get the 900 Ace Turbo in the Renegade line: Renegade X, Adrenaline and X-RS models, plus the Enduro and Grand Touring.
The naturally asperated Ace 900 got a light massage, too. In order to fit the inline triple in the Gen 4 wide body, the intake and exhaust had to be redesigned, resulting in a 5HP boost, for 95 total. Now equipped with the new pDrive primary clutch, this torquey triple delivers amazing on-trail performance.
The 600R E-TEC
We reported on the new 125-horsepower Rotax 600R E-TEC engine in January, with the second generation E-TEC technology adopted from its big brother twin 850 E-TEC 2-stroke. The 600R E-TEC offers a 30% improvement in throttle response and 5 more HP than its predecessor, with new reliability standards for 2-strokes and amazing fuel and oil usage.
In 2019 the new 600R engine will be available in far more Gen-4 configurations, including the MXZ, Renegade, Backcountry, Summit and Grand Touring models.
2019 MX Z
The 600R engine is available in the MXZ X-RS, MXZ X, MXZ Blizzard and MXZ TNT, that are now part of the REV Gen4 family, along with the mighty 850 if you need 165 ponies.
The X-RS and X are spring-order only models with a 1.25-inch RipSaw track or an optional 1.25-inch Ice Ripper XT or 1.6-inch Ice Cobra. The X-RS has chassis reinforcements and KYB Pro clicker shocks.
The Blizzard rolls on the Ice Ripper XT track and Pilot TS skis, the TNT on a RipSaw and Pilot 5.7 skis. The MXZ Sport 600 Carb continues on the tried and true REV-XP platform.
Renegade
The Renegade and Backcountry are now separate lines, each more focused on a particular riding style. The 2019 Renegade Gen 4 is more trail oriented, with several flavors to choose from including the X-RS, X, Enduro and Adrenaline and Sport. The Ace 900 Turbo is available in all models except the Sport. Otherwise the engines and packages are similar to the MX Z.
Rengade Enduro
Get your Rengade Enduro in the new Gen 4 wide-body chassis, then choose which engine you want: the 850 or 600R two-stroke, or perhaps the 900 ACE or 900 ACE Turbo four-stroke.
2019 Ski-Doo Backcountry
As said, the Backcountry now caters to that 50/50 crowd that leans more to off-trail. Those riders will benefit from the cMotion and a different package of features. The Backcountry X-RS is the newest offering.
2019 Grand Touring Limited
Key features of past SE and LE packages have been morphed into the new 2019 Ski-Doo REV Gen 4 wide body, resulting in the all new Grand Touring Limited, available in three engine configurations – 900 ACE, 900 ACE Turbo, and 600R E-TEC. It’s the two-up sled with all the bells and whistles, including heated seats.
